Didn't realize Buckstin was closing early at 6 tonight for the 4th. Got in at 5:55, and placed an order for the Sweet Heat and a 4 pack of Not The Mama to go. They cranked it out quick and it was delicious as ever. Thanks Buckstin crew, and Happy 4th!

I’m a little late to the party, so I’m not sure my review will contribute much but here it is anyway. Buckskin’s flagship brew, Wrong Clamp Amber, has become my favorite beer of all time. I’m not even sure flagship is the right term but as I understand it’s the first brew they embarked upon and it is pure perfection in my book. I wouldn’t call myself a craft beer connoisseur but I’ve been around the block and some of my all-time favorites are Shiner Bock, Altstadt Amber, Jai Alai, Weinstephaner, Flensberger and other German and Belgian brews. Wrong Clamp reminds me of Sam Adams Boston Lager, another top favorite, but much better. It’s a little bolder and louder with the hops but it’s not bitter, in my opinion. There’s something else going on with it aside from the hops that provides that rich body but I’m not versed enough to explain it other than it’s taken the number one spot on my list of good brews. Regarding the setting of this establishment, even though there is a wonderful, several passenger bar, this isn’t a bar, and not a typical brew pub either, but a brew pub that truly has a family atmosphere. Not that this is a novel idea but it’s the first I know of in the Beaumont area quite like this. It’s very clean, well planned with a special events section, booths, high top tables, regular tables and an outside area I haven’t checked out yet. The service is top notch. Most everyone is very knowledgeable about all the brews and foods and everyone is very helpful, friendly and courteous. The food is excellent, every bit of it. I haven’t had the whole menu yet but there’s nothing not worth trying so far. If it sounds good to you, it will be even better when you try it. They have unique appetizers worth having as a small meal, or splurging on a few for an app feast. The pizza is amazing, I’ve had about six variations and no matter what I get, it’s pure satisfaction. The salads are very satisfying too but the only complaint is if you get one with chicken it tends to be a little dry. That said, they make their own blue cheese dressing which is also a favorite of mine. I’m trying to crack their recipe, seems like they add Worcestershire and maybe parm…I don’t know, but it’s great on anything you would imagine dipping into blue cheese.
